S/mileage and SBC Start A “Smile! Dance Contest”

11 06 2011

S/mileage are teaming up with SBC to start a Smile! Dance Contest.

S/mileage will appear at the finals.

While details for the event aren’t released on the H!P or S/mileage site I was very surprised with this announcement since this seems like an interesting way to promote the group, and by giving fans a chance to participate in a dance contest it gives them a chance to reach the finals where they will probably perform in front of S/mileage.

I’m not completely sure whether the dance competition will feature the participants only dancing to S/mileage songs or to whatever song they like but it seems like it will be only S/mileage songs since the bottom of the official site for the contest features links to most of their PVs, which is a great way for everyone to show off how great they are at dancing.

It seems that the winner of the contest will get a prize of 100,000 Yen (about $1000 US dollars) which is a great prize apart from the chance of reaching the finals where S/mileage will be present, so I hope many people enter the contest.

I will update with more details once they are released.

The final round will be on 10/22.

Gekidan Gekiharo 11 Details Announced

11 06 2011

Details for Berryz Koubou and C-ute’s joint Gekidan Gekiharo 11 stage play have been released.

Berryz Koubou and C-ute will act in a female version of Sengoku Jieitai 1549 where 2 female platoons of the self defense forced to time travel to either the stage set of 1979 or 2005 war time where both will try to survive battle.

I am very surprised about the details since I didn’t expect to see them do a stage play about a war time manga, but it is very interesting since we will get to see most of the members act in a unique story where soldiers time travel to different times.

As mentioned before they will be split into two teams where they will each perform a version of the stage play with different directors:

  • Team 1 “Moonlight” – Shimizu Saki, Tsugunaga Momoko, Tokunaga Chinami, Suzuki Airi, Okai Chisato, Hagiwara Mai
  • Team 2 “Winds and Clouds”– Sudou Maasa, Natsuyaki Miyabi, Kumai Yurina, Sugaya Risako, Yajima Maimi, Nakajima Saki

Since they are mixed up it gives fans of both of the groups a chance to see their favorite members act together and since each team has different directors we will be able to see two different plays since they will most likely have different styles and maybe even different lines.

The image above showing off all of the members in costume is amazing since we get to see all of them in their character and while we won’t be able to find out what each one of their characters will be like until the play starts it’s easy to see that each member takes their role seriously due to their expressions.

For now I hope fans are already planning to attend the play since this unique story with H!P members is just too good to pass up, and while it is a few months away I hope we get to see some videos of the rehearsals to find out a bit more about who is playing what character.

“The play will run from 9/16 ~ 10/2 (★” means Team 1, “◎” means Team 2):

◎ 9/16 – 19:00
★ 9/17 – 15:30 / 18:30
◎ 9/18 – 12:00 / 15:30 / 18:30
★ 9/19 – 12:00 / 15:30 / 18:30
★ 9/20 – 19:00
◎ 9/21 – 19:00
★ 9/22 – 19:00
◎ 9/23 – 12:00 / 15:30 / 18:30
★ 9/24 – 12:00 / 15:30 / 18:30
◎ 9/25 – 12:00 / 15:30

★ 9/30 – 19:00
◎ 10/1 – 11:30 / 15:00 / 18:30
★ 10/2 – 11:30 / 15:00

Morning Musume – “Only You” Single V Tracklist Released

11 06 2011

  1. Only You
  2. Only You (Image Ver)
  3. Making Of

The tracklist for Morning Musume’s 46th single V titled Only You has been released.

Disregarding the normal additions to the Single V (the PV and the Making Of) I was very surprised to see that they didn’t include a close-up or dance shot into this release, instead adding an Image Ver which is a unique title that doesn’t seem to point to one particular shot.

That version will probably be very interesting to watch since it might be a different version of the PV or it might feature some other shot although it’s still too early to know for sure, but hopefully we get to find out soon just what that version will feature.

Hopefully fans who usually buy Single V’s can reserve their copy and be among the first to find out when it is released.

The release date is set for 6/29.
