Tanaka Reina Starring In Her First Solo Stage Play

28 02 2011

Tanaka Reina announced on her blog that she will be starring in her first solo stage play titled “Taishou Roman Haikara Tantei Aoi Ruby Satsujinjiken.”

The title of the play translates to “Taisho Romance of the Stylish Detective King Blue Ruby Murder Case.” It seems that the play will revolve around some mystery and murder. I’m a fan of this genre so I’m kind of excited to see the what the play is about. Also I’m not sure if Reina will be acting in the lead role but in most plays Reina has been featured in she always took on a secondary role and if she is the lead I’m excited to see what her acting is like.

H!P announced later that  Sudou Maasa and Shizumi Saki are also participating in the play. I’m unsure what parts they are playing but I’m also excited to see how this turns out.

Hopefully all fans attend to support Reina, Saki and Maasa and I wish the best of luck to all three girls.

The play is set to run from 6/29-7/03.

Michishige Sayumi, Tanaka Reina and Mitsui Aika FC Bus Tour Announced

28 02 2011

Tanaka Reina and Morning Musume’s manger announced that Michishige Sayumi, Tanaka Reina and Mitsui Aika will be holding a fanclub tour.

I’m surprised and somewhat confused as to why they announced one for these Sayu, Reina and Aika. With 9th gen still be new to the group I was thinking that UFA might want to concentrate on promoting 9th gen a bit more. Also instead of promoting a new member with an older member they chose three of the old members. For example instead of doing a tour with these three they could’ve done a tour with Reina, Aika and Ikuta Erina and grow the fanbase for 9th gen. Regardless of that I’m glad that Sayu, Reina and Aika are getting a chance to do a bus tour.

Hopefully all fans in Japan are available to attend and enjoy their trip with Sayu, Reina and Aika.

The bus tour will be from 5/28-5/29.

Morning Musume Will Be On Melodix

27 02 2011

Morning Musume is scheduled to appear on Melodix near the end of March.

It’s great to see that promotion for their 45th single is already being planned since this single will most likely be among the most watched of the year by fans, and even though it’s only one show so far it’s at least a great way to begin promotion for this unique and amazing single.

Since the song has somewhat of a younger and more upbeat sound it will be interesting to see how the song is received, although I’m looking forward more to finding out how the 9th generation does in their first appearance (and most likely “performance”) on TV.

Their appearance will be 3 days after their single is released, so it should help in promotion so that the single sells well throughout the week, but hopefully we get to see them in even more shows so that they can promote both the single and the new members well.

Morning Musume will appear on 3/26.

Morning Musume – “Maji Desu ka Ska!” Short Radio Preview Released

26 02 2011

A short radio preview for Morning Musume’s 45th single titled Maji Desu ka Ska! has been released.

The preview is 1:26 minutes long which should give fans a pretty good idea of what the song sounds like since it includes the first part of the song until the chorus, and for the most part I love the song so far since the song has a really catchy and happy beat and also because everyone seems to have at least one line which seems like a great way for the 9th generation members to show off their skills.

If you heard the preview on Bijo Gaku then you pretty much have a good idea of what the first lines and the chorus sound like since Mizuki, Ikuta, Riho, and Kanon get the first lines, followed by Reina, Sayu, Mitsui, Gaki, and Ai, and even though we haven’t heard most of the song I really loved how the vocals sounded since they matched the happy beat of the instrumental.

The start of the song is really happy since we get to hear all of the members cheering and even though it seemed like it played for a bit too long it added a happy feeling to the song and along with the ska beat and the many instruments the song follows the same feeling throughout the preview.

So far reactions for the song have been either positive or negative (mostly positive), which is understandable since the song completely changed Momusu’s image but I am glad to see that they decided to do a happy genki song for the 9th generation since it fits well with their ages and it also gives us a nice change of sound for fans of “Genki” Momusu to enjoy.

Overall the song sounds amazing so far since it has a happy genki beat with great vocals, and even though the song is a big change from their past releases it seems like this song will be a great way for fans to enjoy a small change of sound since the ska beat and upbeat instrumental with many different sounds definitely give this song a unique and amazing sound.

Hopefully we get a full preview sometime soon along with a PV preview since it will be very interesting to see what kind of theme, dance, and lineup it will have.

The release date is set for 3/23.

EDIT: Here is another preview in case the video above is removed, it features a translation of the lyrics so if you don’t understand the song I suggest you watch this one as well:

Morning Musume Spring Tour 2011 New Genesis Fantasy DX Logo Released

26 02 2011

The logo for Morning Musume’s Spring Tour 2011 New Genesis Fantasy DX has been released.

From what I have read it seems that this tour will be used for promotion for their 11th album Fantasy Juuichi, which is an interesting theme since the album will have been released for 3 months when the tour starts, but despite the somewhat late promotion for the album I really like the way the logo looks since it has an elegant fantasy theme.

There isn’t that much to talk about the logo part from the title and the addition under the title for the 9th generation, but I am glad that they decided to use the word Genesis since it seems that they are referring to a new start for Morning Musume (although ironically they start the new generation by promoting the last album for Kamei, Jun, and Lin).

Hopefully fans who are in the are can attend this tour so that they can see for themselves how the 9th generation does in their first tour as members, and since there are 4 new members it will be fun to see who sings what for the setlist.

Ohtani Masae – “BANGIN'” Preview Released

26 02 2011

A short preview for Ohtani Masae’s 3rd single titled BANGIN’ has been released.

I haven’t heard any other Ohtani singles so this was my first time listening to one of her songs, and despite it being filled with a bit too many effects for my taste I really enjoyed it since it had a great catchy beat that most fans will probably love.

I am happy to see that Ohtani finally gets a chance to sing in the genre she likes best since this song fits her personality perfectly due to the fast beats and the rock music in the background, and even though the preview is less than 30 seconds long I really liked the way it sounded so far.

Hopefully we get a full preview sometime soon.

The release date is set for 4/6.

Abe Natsumi Will Be In The Musical “Dracula”

26 02 2011

Abe Natsumi will play Lucy in the musical Dracula.

According to the site the musical is based of another Dracula musical from Graz, Austria and even though I haven’t seen that musical I am a fan of horror themed plays or movies, and since Abe will be starring in the play it definitely makes it a must see for Abe fans in Japan.

The site features a small interview with Abe and in it she states that she will be playing Lucy, who is the victim of Dracula and becomes a vampire herself, and it seems like an interesting role for her since most of her previous work has her as the lead or one of the leads for the play.

I strongly encourage fans who are in the area and are fans of Dracula to stop by a performance and check out Abe’s musical since it seems that this play will be amazing.
