Goto Maki – “G-Emotion FINAL” Official Website Opened

2 08 2011

An official website for Goto Maki’s pre-hiatus last concert titled G-Emotion FINAL has been opened.

It’s really great to see that an official site for Gomaki’s last pre-hiatus concert has been opened since it’s a great way for fans or for those attending to check out the latest news and the details concerning this memorable concert.

The site features 5 sections in total: news, ticket, goods, from staff and faq, and until now only the ticket section is updated with information concerning the date, the show hours, the ticket’s price, etc… and even though no other section is available now, it’s great to see that they at least put up the basic information for anyone who plans on attending.

The site’s header is also really nice since it features the evolution of Maki’s career as a soloist with pictures of her in different phases, starting from her debuts on the right coming down to her now on the left which is a very nice touch to remind everyone that this is how far she has come. Also, as an addition, the previews for her last single are also featured on the right along with a link to her official website.

Hopefully everyone attending will find this site useful as a reference to know all of the latest news and updates regarding this concert, and I encourage everyone who can attend to do so since it will definitely be a memorable farewell concert.

The concert will take place on 12/4.

Details For Goto Maki’s 1st Album and Concert Released

20 07 2011

The title for Goto Maki’s 1st full album, and final release before her hiatus, is titled Ai Kotoba (VOICE).

There will be three versions: the first featuring 2CDs+2DVDs, the second featuring a CD+DVD, and the third featuring only a CD. They will feature tracks from her mini-albums, as well as a ballad titled Hanauta – hanauta-, and more for a total of 15 tracks (according to CDJapan).

The two disc and four disc editions both feature a DVD with the PV for Queen Bee with BIGGA RAIJI, but the four disc edition also contains 15 postcards featuring photos of Maki Goto shot in Kabukicho. The bonus CD for the four disc edition will be titled Collabo-Works Disc with 11 tracks selected from her collaboration works and the bonus DVD will be titled Making Movie Disc with making-of footage of her works such as photo shootings, music videos, and more.

The title for her final concert before her hiatus will be G-Emotion FINAL.

Along with the digital releases released today we got quite a lot of details about her first full album with avex, and it seems that there will be quite a lot of content for fans to enjoy since there will be many bonus DVDs and CDs along with postcards and more, and while we don’t know the tracklist it’s great to see that Avex is doing a great job with Goto’s last release before her break.

The concert will most likely feature the 15 tracks from the album since it will be released fairly close to the start of that performance, but we won’t know for sure until the day that she performs, although it seems like the title they used is perfect for Goto’s farewell concert before her break since it seems to sum up the theme of the concert well (that being a farewell from Goto full of emotions).

Hopefully everyone who can will reserve a copy of her new album as well as attend her concert since it’s the perfect way to show Goto support, and while these will be the last releases for a while it seems like avex is doing it’s best to release as much content as possible.

The release date for her album is set for 11/2 and the date for her concert will be on 12/4.

Goto Maki – “What is LOVE” and “SCANDALOUS” Previews Released

20 07 2011

Previews for Goto Maki’s digital single titled What is LOVE / SCANDALOUS have been released.

A few weeks ago we found out that Goto would take a break from her career and while it was a sad announcement for many fans she did announce that she would release a single, an album, and perform a concert, and today it seems that details about all of these releases have become available for fans to see, among them a preview of her new single which seems to be available only through the internet (I can’t find it in any stores so it’s most likely a digital release).

Thankfully Avex uploaded some previews of her new songs and I’m pretty impressed with both since they have contrasting sounds that everyone will love. What is LOVE has a very powerful and catchy sound that is somewhat hard to describe, but it’s full of bass and many great vocals that R&B fans will enjoy while SCANDALOUS has a lighter and more ballad oriented R&B sound with the same feeling in the vocals.

I’m usually not a fan of R&B but Goto has done a pretty good job with her releases lately and I’m glad to see that these songs have such a powerful sound since they seem to show off her talent quite well since the vocals are heard clearly in both songs, and with a bass filled song and a clearer ballad it seems that the songs did a perfect job of appealing to everyone.

I recommend everyone check out the preview as soon as possible since they are both great songs and since the music is set to a montage of Goto singing in the studio, dancing, and just listening to music it makes the songs a bit more meaningful since we get to see all of the effort that went into them.

Hopefully everyone who can will buy the songs since it’s the perfect release for Goto fans.

The songs are available now.

Goto Maki’s Pre-Hiatus Activities

26 06 2011

Goto Maki has previously announced that she’ll be going on hiatus in 2011, but some activities have been announced to be held before that.

The list of her currently planned activities are in sum: a new single to be released in July, a full album during the fall and a concert/tour in december just before going on hiatus.

I have to say that I’m happy to see that she has some activites planned before instead of just stopping her activity for fans directly, since this will be an opportunity for her fans to support her by buying her single, album and going to her concert one last time before her long break.

Also to note that unlike her recent releases which have been nothing but mini-albums, this full release will be one awaited one by fans since it will feature many new songs that will hopefully be performed in her concerts later on, so I’m happy about this announcement since many of her fans will be pleased.

Overall, it’ll be quite a busy end of year for Maki with all of the preparation for her hiatus, but hopefully everyone can support her and be present with her during her last performances and releases.

The single is set to release in July, the album in the Fall and the concert tour will be in December.

Goto Maki To Take A Break From Show Business

21 06 2011

According to a letter on her site Goto Maki will take a break from the entertainment business January of next year.

Here is a short summary of what the letter says (credit to Sohee from Jplop):

In January 2012, she will take a break from showbiz. She wrote a personal letter on her website to her fans about it. Wrote that she’s lived for someone else most of this time (joined H!P to get money for her family etc, and continued singing cause her mom loved it etc etc) and when her mom passed away last year, she started to think a lot. She feels as there’s a big hole inside of her right now and she has no idea of what to do or how to live for herself.

Which is why she’ll put her career as “Gomaki” on hold.

She also wrote about certain events that will happen before this though. In July her new song will be able for download (via cellphone) and she will take part in a-nation. She’ll also release her first full album this fall and in December she’ll have a solo concert for the first time in about 4 years.

More details will be announced in July.

Goto Maki has had a fairly successful career so far by releasing a few mini-albums and appearing at many events, but it seems that she has been thinking for a while about her career and ultimately she decided to take a break from the entertainment business while she sorts stuff out.

With all of the stuff happening in the past few months I agree with her since it would give her a chance to clearly sort out what she will be doing from now on, and I believe most fans will agree with her decision since ultimately it will help her find the right path.

Despite the sad news Goto fans have something to look forward to in the next few months before she leaves, such as her new song being available through cellphones, her participation in a-nation, her first full album this fall and her first solo concert in 4 years this December, so I hope fans can do everything they can to support her before her break by buying her releases and going to the concert.

I will update with a full translation once it is released, but for now it seems that this isn’t a “I’m going away forever” but instead a “I’ll see you soon”.

Goto Maki will take a break starting January 2012.

EDIT: Here is the full translation of the message from TokyoHive:

To my fans and those who will be affected,

Today, I have important news.

I, Goto Maki, will stop all entertainment activities starting January of next year.

13 years ago, during the summer, not knowing the world, as a  daughter of a working-class family, I brazenly took the opportunity to audition for Morning Musume.  And I became Gomaki; while I experienced many brilliant stages, I ran about in a daze.

I am truly thankful for all my fans who came to support and root for me in both clear weather and rain, for the staff and others who always assisted me, and for my family as well as fellow entertainers I have met.

In winter of last year, I lost my mother, who was a strong source of support; this led me to think about many things.

Looking back on the path that I had walked, I thought about how I wanted to live in the future and found it different from the path that I had chosen up until now.

I feel extremely thankful for everyone’s existence.

However, as it is, I cannot fill up a giant void within myself.

Up until now, I have always been living not for myself, but for someone else.

I have come to the conclusion that this time, that “me” should not be living for someone else, no matter who they are, but for myself.

That “me” is not Gomaki; instead, it is connected to my desire to change into a normal Goto Maki.

While I think about what I can do, I want to challenge myself to do whatever it is I think up.

I have agonized about this for a long time, but I have decided to stop my feet here.

For those who have supported me as singer Goto Maki, I will use all of my energy to run through the remaining half of the year.

In July, a new track will be released for distribution; in the summer, I will go to various places to sing for a-nation; in the fall, Avex, to which I have transferred to, will release my first album.

And in December, just like nearly four years ago, I will hold a solo concert.

While I wish that you will understand my selfish determination, in the period until my hiatus, even though I am just one person, I want my gratitude to reach everyone and I will do my best to open up all of my power.

Goto Maki Will Be A Guest On “Kamisun!”

26 04 2011

Goto Maki will be featured as a guest on the new show “Kamisun!”

This is the same show which Dream Morning Musume appeared on not too long ago. So far it seems like the show is a performance and talk, similar to Utaban and other music shows that we’ve seen.

When I heard the news I was hoping that Maki and Dream MoMusu would be featured at the same time. Unfortunately they weren’t but this is probably the closest to a reunion for Maki and any H!P member and although it would’ve been exciting to see them together it probably won’t happen yet.

Maki will most likely be promoting songs from her new album, Love and hopefully that means that she will perform a song from that album live too. The photo of Maki on the show’s website is a picture from the Love album, so we’ll just have to see which song(s) she performs.

Maki will be a guest on Kamisun on 5/2.

Goto Maki Releasing A New Mini-Album Titled “LOVE”

13 04 2011

Goto Maki is releasing a new mini-album titled “LOVE”.

The new album will feature a cover of “Sora to Kimi no Aida ni” by Miyuki Nakajima, a ballad, and dance tune. There will be a total of 5 songs, all of which will be written by Maki herself. (Except for the cover, of course.) The album will be released in three editions, CD, CD+DVD, and Don Quixote’s special CD+DVD.

The lead song, “Nee” is said to have 2 MV’s, one will be featured on the CD+DVD version and the Don Quixote special. A description of the MV is said to be “beautiful, fragile, positive, music video that will make you feel the kindness and warmth of spring.”

The cover has also been released and is featured above. Pink is the CD+DVD version, Green is the CD version and finally the Don Quixote special is featured in gold. The covers are quite simple, it features Maki in a white, goddess like outfit with the letters “LOVE” written across in a color.

Overall fans are saying this is one of her best mini albums so far and hopefully everyone will reserve a copy when it’s released.

The release date is set for 5/4.
