The covers for Berryz Koubou’s 27th single titled Aa, Yoru ga Akeru have been released.
We don’t usually get to see HQ covers after a small outfit preview but I am glad to see that they are already out since it gives us a chance to check out the covers in the best quality while also checking out the outfits and the themes that they each have and at first glance I absolutely love these covers since they have a unique theme.
Before anything a few comments on the looks of each member, I’ll go in depth once I get a chance to see individual profile pics but for now the biggest changes are Kumai’s shorter hair, Risako’s light brown colored hair, and Miya’s brighter hair color, and to sum it up I am amazed since they all look amazingly beautiful since their new looks match the outfits really well.
That being said the regular cover (pictured above) features all of the members in dark pink, light pink, and white dresses with a really impressive mature style that fits every member perfectly, and along with the bright white theme and the elegant font used for the title I can honestly say that this is one of the best regular covers I have seen since it combines an elegant theme with a bright, simple, and cute look.
Limited A
The Limited A cover features all of the members in a cloud theme where Maasa and Risako are resting on clouds while the other members pose around them, and apart from the perfect poses I really liked it as well, although it would have been great to see a background with a few more clouds since the vast emptiness distracts a bit, although it is a good way to make the members stand out even more (the silver heels on Risako also blend in pretty well with the soft light of the theme).
Limited B
All singles have a cover featuring shots of each member from the front in two rows so it’s not surprising to see that this single is no exception, but I have to admit that they did a pretty good job with this cover since every member looks amazing, from Miya’s cute pose to Risako’s glance at the camera, Maasa’s smile, Chii’s cute although slightly out of place pose, or Captain’s stunning look.
The cover is almost perfect but the background is a bit empty although there isn’t that much showing and it fits the elegant and cute theme, but it would have looked somewhat better if there was something on the top, like the title or the roses since having both of them at the bottom makes the title hard to read.
Limited C
I didn’t expect to see a cover with swings for this single but here it is, a picture with all of the members in their cute outfits on swings while smiling at the camera, and although it seems a bit too crowded I really liked how it since the bright white background with a simple but elegant curtain at the top made the cover look like a cover shot in a dream, which is absolutely amazing.
Overall the covers have their own unique looks and themes which came out impressively well, and while there are always a few things that could have looked better these covers still manage to look amazing since the soft and cute theme, the pink and white outfits with a mature look, and the main song with a more mature Berryz blend in to make an amazing release.
It will be fun to see if the themes of the covers appear in the PV since the swing would make a fun shot for each member, and with the more mature style it seems that we will most likely see a more relaxed PV, although we will have to wait to find out.
As far as my favorites I would say that the Regular cover would come in first for me with the Limited B in a close second, but they all have their own unique layout that each appeal to a different taste so fans will most likely had different opinions.
Hopefully once you decide which one is your favorite you can reserve your copy of this single since the release date is less than a month away, and while we haven’t heard the b-side or seen profile pictures for each member we will most likely get to see them, along with the PV, sometime in the next few weeks.
The release date is set for 8/10.
