Morning Musume – Keitai Deka The Movie 3: Morning Musume Kyuushutsu Daisakusen! ~ Pandora no Hako no Himitsu~
Standard and Premium Editions (DVD)
The standard edition contains trailers of the move, but the premium version contains the following (according to YesAsia):
Premium Edition includes producer and cast commentary, making of, stage events, live concert footage from the BS-TBS Summer Party music concert, and trailers. It also comes with an original Zenigata strap and a replica of Aya Omasa, Azusa Okamoto, and Anri Okamoto’s graduation certificate from the Keitai Deka series.
Hello! Project members appearing in movies is nothing new since many of them have appeared in small cameos in movies with others having a chance to be the main character in their movies, for example Mano or Airi who have appeared in quite a few movies this year. However, a whole group being the main point of a story is somewhat more unique since the plots of the movies they appeared in centered around other topics, but for this release they are the main point of the story with the movie revolving around the mystery of Momusu disappearing from a bus after a concert.
This movie was announced last year, which means that 10 MY ME was the main focus at the time, and as a result the lineup was different with members that have graduated making an appearance in this movie, specifically Kamei Eri, Jun Jun, and Lin Lin. This means that fans will have a somewhat nostalgic view of the lineup back then since everyone appears frequently and from what I can tell they all have lines which should be a relief for many.

The movie itself isn’t a high budget release as can be seen from the many trailers, but it’s still a pretty good release for any Momusu fan and for any fans of the series since the two different themes do a perfect job of complementing each other, with the main actresses for the Keitai Deka series doing a great job with the many spy themes in the movie while Momusu does an equally good job keeping the story going.
I have seen only a few trailers and the opening scene (the video below), but from what I can tell in the first few minutes of the movie there are already a lot of Momusu references, ranging from the Momusu Pika Pika concert posters at the beginning to the pictures they receive in their cellphones, it is definitely a movie full of references that fans will love.

The opening focuses more on the main actors so we don’t get to see many appearances from the group in the first part, but from the trailer for the movie it seems like there will be many appearances from the group so it’s well worth from anyone interested in finding out about the story and just how Morning Musume ties in, although if you’d like to see the members acting there are a few scenes in this video below from the release event that Gaki and Mitsui appeared in and it features a small comment from the group as well as Kamei, Gaki, Sayu and Reina saying a few lines (they appear at about 2:10).

For me this movie is a really good release for Morning Musume fans since they make many references to the group throughout the movie, and while the focus might be on the Keitai Deka series it seems like they do a great job of combining the two with the story progressing really well, although many fans who don’t understand Japanese completely will be somewhat lost since it is after all a Japanese movie.
In my opinion this release gets a 4 since it’s a decent movie with many Momusu references but since I haven’t seen it fully I can’t say I love it for sure just yet since there are parts that stood out for me (the acting from the main spies is a bit rough sometimes), and while the Keitai Deka girl spies are the main stars of the movie Momusu still plays a very important part of the movie since the story centers around them, and with a different lineup it is a great chance to enjoy this last release featuring Kamei, Jun Jun, and Lin Lin, so it’s definitely a recommendation for fans who understand Japanese well and want to enjoy a Momusu-centered mystery movie.
